You could start off anywhere in their discography and be hooked right away. In 2011 they won Best Album, Best Rock Act and Best Design at The Digital Socket Awards in their native Ireland. This song Masa is off their latest release This is the Second Album of a band called Adebisi Shank and is only $6.99 through the link below. It is worth every digital penny.

Another techno 80sish techno outfit Milky Sway & Candy Starlight have released the free ep Fantasy Night. This song off the ep, Bustin’ Free is full of super clipping bass, catchy leads, and a singer’s voice that has this awesome cute girl twang to it. This song is perfect for playing at medium volume in a shitty boom box while your hanging outside on what’s left of our hot summer days or at makeout parties.

Jai Paul is a UK artist on XL records and has recently released this throbbing bass heavy melodic track BTSTU. This has been a long time coming, originally the demo track leaked about a year ago and got a lot of hype and everyone had been sitting tight till now. The song is very unique with a good range of vocals and harmonies that while different are very tasteful.

This next song Make Some Noise is off Beastie Boys‘ 8th studio album Hot Sauce Committee Part Two. The track stays true to Beastie Boys‘ signature party rap style with a dirty auto wah clavicle sounding moog to carry the beat. Sweet cowbell is also thrown in along with some computer voice chorus vocals. Beastie Boys definitely still have it.
Listen to
Danger Mouse‘s latest release with Daniele Luppi called Rome, is a unique direction for Danger Mouse musically with very organic instruments making up most of the tracks. This track Two Against One features some help from Jack White and it’s a quick smokey slice of groove. The album is mostly good stuff with the occasional bland track but with a track record like Danger Mouse you can pretty much do what ever you want.

This is off the much anticipated new album Goblin from Tyler, The Creator. This track really stood out to us on the album because it’s one of the only tracks that no one is getting raped or killed in and has a pretty sweet beat. Another thing that Tyler is really defining as his style is the transformed deep vocals which with such a wide use on the album it will remind you of the opposite of Quasimoto‘s high vocal transformed delivery. Goblin is an artistic statement that is worth the listen.

This last track is a new one from MSTRKRFT called Beards Again and is a sweet rock dance track. Heavy licks over a steady floor beat tilts the song more toward rock then techno and is somewhat unique for MSTKRFT but is a welcome evolution. If you saw our post on DFA79 last month then you know that Jesse F. Keeler is on tour with them as of now so a release date for a new MSTKRFT record is still unknown. Honestly we’ll take a new DFA79 record if we had the choice but MSTRKRFT is always good stuff. Download this song for free from the buy button below.

This first song is a remix of 1940 by The Submarines done by AmpLive. The Submarines are a pop duo from Los Angeles with a singer who’s voice is intoxicating. This song is from the Honeysuckle Remixes record released right before the end of last year. It’s smooth, not too complicated, very clean and very deliberate. AmpLive is one half of the hip hop duo Zion I and has done work with many big artists including MGMT and Radiohead. Be sure to check out The Submarines most recent record Love Notes/Letter Bombs that was released on the 5th.

This next one is a quick collaboration between the Flaming Lips & Neon Indian only released as a 12″, on specially colored vinyl, with only 1,000 copies available, distributed in only two record stores. Needless to say thats why we don’t have a link to buy the song. The whole record is only 4 songs, boasting strange titles like Is David Bowie Dead?. The record is definitely out there, everything sounds like it was one take and very psychedelic. This song, You Don’t Respond, is probably one of the easiest to digest on the record but the rest is definitely worth at least one pass through.

One of the Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All guys hits us with another interesting track. Originally this song Less was reported as a possible bonus track for the MellowHype rerelease of Blackenedwhite but later was actually confirmed that it is a new track from Hodgy Beats solo project. Either way it’s a super unique track with a jazz flute hook that you wouldn’t expect. Another reason why this track is so different is there is a constant drum beat in the background but there isn’t the overbearing kick drum thud your use to hearing in a lot of hip hop now a days and it still works. All in all we can’t wait to see what the new Hodgy Beats record is like and what’s next for Casey Veggies who also featured on the track.

Usually we’re not big country fans because… well… most of it is garbage, but this 3-piece alt-country band from Canada has struck a sweet spot in our hearts. Elliott Brood has been around since 2002 and have gotten critical acclaim all over the place, even being a featured artist at SXSW and playing at the Olympic Village in 2010. This song Write It All Down For You is off their last record Mountain Meadows and is an energetic jam of a song. Half of the reason the song is so good is because of how awesomely raspy singer Mark Sasso‘s voice is. Be sure to check out their latest work, the score for the new film Grown Up Movie Star.
Listen to
Finally we have some great new metal (not nu-metal you queers) from The Human Abstract off their latest record Digital Veil. This is the title track off the album and it thuds with vengeance. The band recently parted ways with their old singer Nathan Ells and have gotten one of our favorite artists, former From First to Last guitarist and The Color of Violence singer Travis Richter. Definitely a trade up if you ask us, you have to love Travis’s malicious scream. No word on if there will be a follow up to The Color of Violence record but this album is definitely awesome enough to keep us content for now.

First up, believe it or not, is the first lady of France Carla Bruni. Before marrying President Sarkozy, Carla had already been an accomplished musician and a model in Italy. She now has an office and a staff at her disposal and can usually be seen in any public appearance concerning France. Being a total babe, naturally Carla had done artistic nudes in her early modeling career which are amazing to say the least. On the eve of an official visit to the UK one of her nude photographs was published by Christie‘s auction house which was then sold for $91,000. This song Quelqu’un M’A Dit is from her first album and really shows how sexy and delicate her voice is.

Battles is an american experimental rock group based out of NYC. They recently have lost their singer Tyondai Braxton to his solo efforts but if you knew Battles before, you know there is a lot more to the band then their vocalist. They’re set to release their second album on Warped Records on June 7th (pre order by clicking the money link below) called Gloss Drop. The record is going to features guest vocalists to fill in for Tyondai and on this track Ice Cream they enlisted the help from Chilean-born techno producer/singer/DJ Matias Aguayo. This is the perfect summer song.

You’ve probably herd Wiz Khalifa‘s track Black and Yellow a million times because of the SuperBowl but his upcoming album Rolling Papers is going to be worth the listen. This song, The Race, is a smooth beautifully full sounding beat with a great hook. The lonely at the top subject to the song is delivered in a way that its not in self-pitying but more a statement of learning and moving forward. The beat is what sets it off though, done by Pittsburgh based beat team I.D. Labs.

So at some point in the past 6 years you probably herd a song from The Strokes and thought “what the fuck happened to them?” Well they’re back and their new album Angles is a solid beast of a record. The single on the record Under Cover of Darkness, has a little bit more of The Strokes feel that we’re use to but the record on a whole is different and awesome throughout. You can really tell the band has matured and especially in the guitars department you can tell they really stepped up their game. This song Machu Picchu, is the first song on the record and our personal favorite.

Protest The Hero is a Canadian metal band from Ontario. Their new album Scurrilous dropped Tuesday and there is only one word to describe it – epic. They’re complete virtuosos of their instruments and if you listen to the record all the way up to 11 you could possibly melt your face off. This song Moonlight immediately hits you in the chest with guitar riff awesomeness and doesn’t stop. Be sure to catch them on tour throughout Canada and the USA with Maylene & The Sons Of Disaster and TesseracT.

First up is a song by singer song writer Anya Marina. This song Move You is a almost dark pop song with a great sound. What really stands out is her dry sexy voice which she does a pretty awesome harmony with at the end of chorus. It’s always a good thing when a girl is a total babe and can write interesting music ::crush::

This song is a remix done by Belgium electro rock band Soulwax of british rock band Klaxons‘ song Gravilty’s Rainbow. The original song by Klaxons is really pretty awesome but when Soulwax gets in the mix of anything it usually turns out awesome. Play-Drink-Party-Repeat

The new Radiohead album The King of Limbs is solid. Radiohead is one of those bands that now a days they don’t need a record label or even promotion, they can just drop a record and watch it circulate. The new album will remind you of early Radiohead but still bringing some new chops. This song Morning Mr Magpie is just one of the better songs on the album..

This song Sandwiches by Tyler, The Creator and Hodgy Beats of Odd Future is a monster. Odd Future has been blowing up the spot recently with their dark style. Just putting it out there that Odd Future is the new Wu-Tang. All young dude with ages ranging from 15 – 19, if they keep up their takeover their going to be everywhere real soon. To see a crazy ass performance of this song check out the one they did on Jimmy Fallon.

This last song is off Underoath‘s latest which if you haven’t picked it up you must. Underoath from the start wasn’t you average christian rock band but ever since their original dummer/singer left to focus on his band the almost Underoath has been taking things off the charts. This latest you can tell they’ve jelled into something unstoppable.

Toro Y Moi is a groove funk nerve gas explosion. It’s like Head Automatica and Men Women and Children‘s smooth cousin that’s dad is one of the Bee Gees and ends up banging most of the bridesmaids at every wedding. The man behind the magic is Chazwick Brundick. This song New Beat is off his new record Underneath The Pine that comes out February 22nd on Carpark Records.

This next song Dark Allies by Light Asylum is a grimy 80s techno jam that I can imagine being played loud as hell in a dark room filled with lazers and people grinding everywhere. Shannon Funchess’s intense vocals really make the song. It has a real dark New Order feel. Click the money sign below to download it for free on stereogum.com.

The new Cage The Elephant record Thank You Happy Birthday is crazy. The album takes you from blended smash rock like this song Sabertooth Tiger to gentler rock to surfer rock then back up in your throat. Very diverse to say the least but a huge improvement over their last record. Hopefully they stay on what ever drugs they found.

This is a new one from Skrillex called Kill Everybody and it’s a straight monster. You might remember Skrillex as Sonny from From First To Last. He’s first solo stuff after the band sounded nothing like this at all but this new stuff is really where it’s at. The sounds he has going on are so well textured and crafted. When the song hits 1:19 clinch your cheeks, you’ll thank us later.

This last song is from a little while ago but you have to listen to it because we should all work on bringing more metal to mainstream. Why? Because it rules. This song Axe to Fall is the title track off Converge‘s last record. The whole thing is pretty solid and is some of their best work since Jane Doe.

The Damned Things is what you get out of an Anthrax, Fall Out Boy and Every Time I Die orgy. A true heavy metal supergroup with Joe & Andy from Fall Out Boy, Scott & Rob from Anthrax and Keith & Josh from ETID. Their debut record Ironiclast has a very 90s/80s metal feel to it. You can tell when they started writing they weren’t trying to perform brain surgery and were just trying to have a good time making music. This song, We’ve got a situation here, is now available as part of the Guitar Hero’s new DLC. For info on how to download and play click here.

If you don’t know who the Deftones are then go find out for yourself. This song Diamond Eyes is off their new album of the same title. I’m happy to say after all these years they still haven’t lost their touch. Diamond Eyes was even named iTunes 2010 Rock Album of the Year. Chino brings it on the record and the band is as rad as ever. It will remind you of the new glassJAw stuff with that same great dredge mixed with melodic vocals.

Zach Hill is a self taught drummer that has never looked back after starting in 95. His primary gig is with he band Hella bust has also done work in Team Sleep, Goon Moon, Crime in Choir, The Ladies, Holy Smokes, and even with Omar Rodriguez Lopez just to name a few. This song, The Primitives Talk, is off his solo record Face Tat which turned out to be very experimental like his other ventures but this time it’s very lo fi-y almost sounding like Neon Indian.

Beans is a unique hip hop artist from New York that will remind you of Atmosphere or the Lateef & The Chief’s Maroons: Ambush record. Beans was a founding member of New York’s legendary hiphop group Antipop Consortium and since their disbandment and reformation, he has done a slew of appearances and solo releases. This song Deathsweater is off his latest album End It All which will be released on February 15 on Anticon. Click the buy button next to the song to download it for free.

Sufjan Stevens is a diverse indie artist from Detroit. He has been around for awhile now, even having a #1 album on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart. He can jump from electronic to classical to lo fi indie folk to anything else you can imagine and then blend it all back together. This song, Too Much, is off his latest album The Age of Adz, which is an epic album to say the least. Most of the songs are over 5 mins and take you on a ride. Give this song a listen the whole way through and you wont regret it.

Mark Ronson & The Business Intl. is the band name for the solo work of Mark Ronson who is a grammy award winning music producer, DJ and guitarist. Mark was influenced at an early age when Mick Jones of Foreigner became his step-dad. Later he went on to do work with a ton of big names like Marcy Gray, Amy Winehouse, Duran Duran, Kanye West, Timberland and Rymesfest just to name a few. This song, Bang Bang Bang, features female vocalist MNDR and Q-Tip, who still sounds as good if not better then when I bought my first Tribe Called Quest record. The whole new album, Record Collection features a ton of really great artist and is worth every penny. Go pick it up.

Cee Lo Green is one of the great modern american hip hop/funk/soul/r&b musicians. You’ll remember him from Goodie Mob and more recently Gnarls Barkley. This song, Fuck You, is off his third solo album, The Lady Killer. With a single and album title like that you might be expecting something completely different then what your going to get. His sound is so soulful and will remind of of the great motown hits. The album dropped early last month and has already reached number 9 on the billboard charts.

Girl Talk aka Gregg Gillis is an American DJ who now adays is the king of mashups and digital sampling. This song Tripple Double, is off his 5th album on Illegal Art records, All Day. The whole new album is like one big long pop culture time machine party and is available for free through the Illegal Art website. He has said the reason he picked Girl Talk as the name because when he started out he ran with a lot of overly serious electronic bands and he wanted to pick a name that was the exact opposite and would make those uptight musicians embarrassed to play with. We can all learn something from this, don’t take yourself too seriously.

Tame Impala has to be one of the most addictive bands we’ve come across lately. Tame Impala was formed from the original psych-blues-jazz band Dee Dee Dums. The band’s sound is a dream-like groove rock that put simply is almost like if you gave The Beatles way more drugs in the studio. This song, Alter Ego, is off their debut album Innerspeaker and is a must have.
Listen to
Deerhunter is an indie band from Atlanta thats just plain good. Their style has been described as ambient punk and one of the great things about this song, Helicopter, is how humongous it sounds when everything kicks in. It’s like their music is a comfortable ass boa constrictor thats just trying to hug you and not end your life. Go pick up their new album Halcyon Digest.

Phantogram is an american band from Saratoga Springs. Formerly known as Charlie Everywhere, Phantogram has been making a steady ascent since 2007. They have an experimental-techno psychedelic style that while being unique also has a poppy feel to it. This song Running From The Cops is off their debut album Eyelid Movies.

King Charles is a London based artist who came onto the scene last year. Of all the singles he has released this song, Time Of Eternity, has to be the stand out. He also has his own version of We Didn’t Start The Fire which is actually really awesome because he updated the lyrics to fit the modern age (check out the vid). You can currently catch him on tour with Mumford & Sons and expect his debut album out in 2011.

Just Like Vinyl is the new project from Thomas Erak who you’ll remember from The Fall of Troy. Even though Erak sings and plays guitar in this band as well, it is different from the The Fall of Troy. The album has been being leaked here and there and even though this song Kite, isn’t really the single it is probably one of the better ones we’ve herd so far. They’re on tour now but near the end of last week their van got totaled by some drunk broad driving on the wrong side of the freeway. Swerving a little is one thing, but driving on the wrong side of a FREEWAY and almost killing one of the best guitarists to ever live is another. I hope the dick she was sucking got bit off in the crash.

Good Old War is an indie band from Philadelphia. If you ever listened to any of Anthony Green‘s solo stuff you’ll know these guys because they were the backing band on the recordings and on the tour. Their style is similar to Dr. Dog but with a more folky twang to it. This song, That’s Some Dream, is off their self titled album.

Miike Snow is not a man but rather a Switzerland based indie band consisting of Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg, also known as Bloodshy & Avant, and lead singer Andrew Wyatt. This song Silvia isn’t really as dancey as their single Animal, but if you listen to it all the way through it really shows off what the band can do a little more and is all around a pretty damn good song.
