Vintage.Gif is a project where we use old multilens film cameras to generate animated gifs. When the oldest form of internet video, the gif, mixes with film we generate video similar to Eadweard Muybridge‘s animal locomotion. This has to be one of the most far out things I’ve come across in a while. DORKBOT is a gathering of people doing strange artistic things with electricity that happens usually once a month. Although these groups are all over the world one of the better ones I’ve herd about is in Sydney Australia and meets at 7:30 the last tuesday of every month. The meetings according to the group are an ‘opportunity for public discussion, peer review and exploration of ideas, experiments and finished works and also to solidify and invite growth, encouragement and collaboration in a community of curious people.’ It’s a non-profit organization so it’s free for anyone to come and watch or present (they do welcome donations to keep it going though.) So I know what you thinking… what the fuck? Well here is a couple examples of what goes on. For more information on Dorkbot and maybe even learn how to start your own check out dorkbot.org and to keep up with or even join the Sydney group check out dorkbotsyd.boztek.net.
