SunCrusher is a dynamic space-rock band from Philadelphia. You might remember them from a video we posted awhile back when their name was Life In Antarctica. They have been focused on writing their debut album as of late but couldn’t pass up a gig at the Kung Fu Necktie. No word yet on when the album will drop so your best bet is to catch them live and what a live show it is. One of the only ways we can describe it is BIG. To keep up with them check out myspace.com/suncrusher.rock

The Scenic is a rock band. Catchy melodies that will stick to your bones and guitar tones that will remind you of the greats of the 90s. We were able to meet up with them the night before the release of their second full length, Bipolaroid. The two characteristics that you will notice about everyone in the band is that they are all completely chill dudes and that they are fully committed musicians. When you talk to some musicians you can tell they are very conscious about being a “musician” and all that entails but with these guys it’s just who they are, they couldn’t change it if they wanted to.

The new album Bipolaroid in their words is a “rock album” and that’s just what it is. Bipolaroid will take you on a ride from fist pumping anthems to delicate soft songs. It’s this dynamic that really sets the album apart. They’ve gone through line up changes since the band’s inception in 2006 but they are definitely a unit. You need to come out and rock if they’re playing even remotely close to you. For full tour dates check out myspace.com/thescenic and click here to get your hands on Bipolaroid.

fresh daily

Carl Meadow

Fresh Daily, formerly know as Ill Tarzan, is a rising hip hop and graphic artist out of Brooklyn, NY. Fresh is always on the go weather it’s tearing up the stage, having a gallery showing, or even modeling for several independent clothing lines. We were able to catch up with him outside his show Brooklyn. If you spend even a little bit of time with Fresh you realize how wise and motivated he is. He keeps it real and is on somewhat of a mission to cure the music scene of fakers so the real artist can come through (you can see why we like him so much). His most recent album Gorgeous Killer In Crimes Of Passion is out now and you can pick it up buy clicking here. To get more Fresh Daily check out his twitter twitter.com/freshdotdaily his blog freshdailyblog.blogspot.com/ or his myspace www.myspace.com/freshdotdaily.

twin shadow

Twin Shadow is the infectious music of George Lewis Jr. We had first discovered him a little while back and have been addicted ever since. With smooth vocals that will remind of you Sebastien Grainger’s solo efforts with a style all their own and vintage futuristic licks it is really hard not to get hooked on this drug. We we’re able to catch up with George in his home town of NYC last week at a show in Manhattan. There’s really nothing like meeting your favorite new artist and they turning out to be one the coolest cats around with a live show that brings the ruckus. There’s an electrifying energy that surrounds Twin Shadow that really makes you realize there is a difference between someone who just plays music and an artist. Before this week if you we’re across the country there was no way to get your hands on the record but rejoice, your time is here. Get the whole new record ‘Forget‘ off the website www.twinshadow.net for only $1! Act now o children of light because this is a limited time deal. They’re on tour now to support the new album and if you know whats good for you, you’ll check out the myspace to get the low down on tour dates. You can also keep up with Twin Shadow on http://twitter.com/thetwinshadow

in the studio with satellite music

Satellite Music is a hip hop trifecta of Chris Kyte, Steve Harner and Joey Rudas combining influences from baltimore, philly and chicago. We’ve been following their progress from the beginning, from the raw beats to finding Chris Kyte to now where they’re wrapping up recording their debut album. They were able to score some studio time recently and invited us to a vocal tracking sesh. Steve let us in on how some of the sounds were produced while Chris would lay down the nastiness and keep us laughing. The beats speak for themselves and Kyte’s lyrical style is versatile and creative. Tracks haven’t gone through mastering yet and the crew is still working on all that web crap in starting up a group but you can keep track of them on twitter.com/satellitexmusic and they were nice enough to pass us this track Strike A Match (demo un mastered version of course) which you hear a snipit of in the video. The rest of the album is ganna be a wild mother fucker so keep your radar on and we’ll be letting you know when that hits.

We caught up with The Dangerous Summer back stage on the opening night of the reach for the sun tour and made them answer our questions by threatening their lives with a box cutter, just kidding, seriously. Their living the dream; headlining tour, record contract, debut album, live album and all the pressure and perks that comes with it. We talked about they’re perspective from when they started as a band till now and how it’s changed with new goals to reach and more work to do. They’ve worked hard to get to this point but I guess it helps to have a great sound and an album that will get stuck on your mp3 player. There’s nothing like a band who has a good sounding album but still has the chops to bring it live. The atmosphere of the show is just something you have to get in on. So check them out on tour right now, get your tour dates here. Look for the more in depth story when our print mag hits, ya herrrrrd. O yea and if you don’t have Reach for the Sun yet click here if you do click here.

entertainment system

Entertainment System is melt your face awesome. There’s the basic idea that they’re a gamer band but if you’ve seen them before or coped one of their albums you know its way more then that. What I think makes it so epic, especially live, is the way they arrange the songs and crazy guitar harmonies they pull off. Not only are the jams bad ass but all the guys are just straight cool talented guys. They aren’t pretentious or egotistical, they just are all about playing the best shit they can fathom. Another uniquity about them is the amount of projects they’re involved in. Many of them play other instruments in other groups that sometimes even contain they’re entertainment system comrades. All in all good dudes, good music, gnarly show. Check them out at BIT GEN 5 Aug 14th at Sonar in Baltimore along with YEAR 200X, The Megas, This Place Is Haunted, Cheap Dinosaurs, The Ultraball, X Hunters, Rare Candy, Armadillo Tank, The Protomen and many more. Shit sells out so get you tickets here right now. Enjoy the vid.
