the real techno

If any of you follow us on twitter then you probably saw us tweet this video, for those of you who don’t follow go watch the video and meet us back here, we’ll wait… Alright so what you probably noticed other then how sweet the early 80s were was the rad-ass jam in the background. That track is the first one on the list below which many people credit is the first Detroit Techno track to hit the streets along with Alleys of your Mind by Cybotron, both in 1981(song below). Juan Atkins is one half of Cybotron and is the guy who coined the term techno. While few people we’re taking notice Cybotron was dropping crazy singles like Cosmic Cars [song below] and Clear [song below] which you’ll recognize because it got lifted for that Missy Elliot song. Atkins, Kevin Suanerson, and Derrick May (Belleville Three) are know for laying the initial blueprint for techno. The last song below is Atkins‘ first single under the name Model 500 called No UFO’s which other people consider as the first real techno recording. But then you got Kraftwerk in ’77 so it really depends who you talk to. This is a very brief background on early techno but it gives you an idea of where these jams came from. All you need to know is it’s awesome at parties. Bring on the dance gauntlets.
